Enjoy the outstanding 8-day 'Uganda's Gorillas And Wildlife Safari' Tour, offering you the opportunity to observe closely the majestic chimpanzees of Uganda in their natural habitat and witness diverse African wildlife, beautiful landscapes and amazing culture. Experience the wonder of the world’s renowned Murchison Falls as it squeezes through the narrow gorge. This tour starts and ends at Entebbe International Airport and includes flight transfers, taking you through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Murchison Falls National Park and Mbale. The typical safari itinerary is listed as follows:

ARRIVAL AT ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Your driver guide reports at the Entebbe International Airport, for transfer to your hotel. The driver guide/safari representative will facilitate all the arrival formalities seamlessly and will brief you about your adventure safari tour.

You will then proceed to Kasubi Tombs, which is an active religious place in the Buganda Kingdom. The guides at the site will take you through the history, culture and present way of living of the Buganda Tribe. The Kasubi Tomb is the burial ground for the previous 4 kings of Buganda, which makes it a religious center for the royal family.

After visiting the tomb, you can also go on a city tour with the help of our guide and visit shopping malls and local markets around the town. Transfer to Entebbe for a check-in hotel for an overnight stay after dinner in your preferred restaurant.

ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the hotel and then a road transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your domestic flight to Kihihi Airstrip. Meet your guide at the airstrip and reach your lodge at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, covers an area of 331 square kilometers and features a range of landscapes, including dense rainforests, rocky ridges, deep valleys and lakes. This place is home to magnificent Bwindi mountain gorillas, one of the 10 species of primates that thrive here. Others include black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, etc.

Upon reaching the park, you may relax at the lodge or go for an optional Batwa cultural trail at an extra fee of $70. The trail takes you to visit the Batwa pygmies, who are believed to be one of the earliest ethnic groups to live in Uganda and are known for their short stature and the ancient practice of hunting and gathering. This tour takes a maximum of 4 hours.

FULL-DAY GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Have breakfast early in the morning and depart for the starting point where you will be briefed about your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek begins from the site where gorillas were spotted a day before. The experienced gorilla trekkers guide you through the slopes and volcanoes of the park.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 17 gorilla groups making it the best place to witness the gorillas in the wild. The tour gives you an opportunity to closely observe 90 mammal species and 11 primates, including the black and white colobus monkey.

The hike in the park can be physically demanding, but watching gorillas play, eat, rest and bond with their young ones is an incredible experience. Follow the mountain gorillas as they go freely in the impenetrable forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat.

After your gorilla trekking safari tour, head back to the lodge. If your trek is relatively short, you can go for a guided nature walk around the lodge and the surrounding communities in the evening. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Note

Don’t forget to carry your rain gear, packed lunch, plenty of water, gloves, hat and waterproof bag for protection of your camera in case of rain.

BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK - ENTEBBE - MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Wake up in the morning and leave for the Kihihi airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe International Airport. On reaching Entebbe, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park via road and with a lunch break at the selected restaurant.

You can also stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an optional rhino tracking experience for an extra fee of $45 USD per person. The sanctuary houses 15 rhinos which were reintroduced here after their extinction in the 1970s because of poaching. A local ranger guides you through the sanctuary and you will get an opportunity to witness the rhinos closely.

GAME DIVE AND BOAT TRIP AT MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Wake up early in the morning and leave for a game drive at the northern bank of the Nile River in your open-roof vehicle, offering you an excellent opportunity to view and photograph the diverse wildlife. Spot elephant, lion, cape buffalo, Rothchild’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard.

After your game drive, have lunch and go for a boat cruise upstream of the Victoria Nile river. Reach the base of the Murchison falls and stop a few meters from the devil’s cauldron, where you can spot hippos and crocodiles and over the 17 km stretch, you may see elephants, waterbuck and Uganda Kob.

You can also spot several bird species here, including the goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. After taking pictures of the photogenic Murchison Falls, you may continue to the top of the falls at an additional fee of $15 USD per person, where you will have stunning views of the falls as the Nile River explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley ridge to descend into a frothing pool 43 m below.

MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK - MBALE

Have breakfast at the lodge and leave for Mbale while you enjoy a small game drive on your way out of the Murchison Falls National Park. Stop on the route at a selected restaurant for lunch and continue with your drive. The town of Mbale is located in a fertile coffee-growing area and is an agricultural trade center in Uganda.

On your arrival, check in at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

VISIT TO JEWISH CHURCHES AND ABAYUDAYA COMMUNITY

Have breakfast at the lodge and visit the Jewish churches and Abayudaya community to learn about their social way of life. The Abayudaya are a community in eastern Uganda that practice a form of Judaism. They are not Jews by birth but by choice. Their population is estimated to be around 1,100 and they are subsistence farmers. They speak Luganda, Lusoga, or Lugwere, and some have learned Hebrew as well.

After visiting the Abayudaya community, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

MBALE - ENTEBBE

Have breakfast in the morning and depending on the time of flight, you can spend some time with the Jewish community members in Mbale. Road transfer to Entebbe with a stopover on the way for lunch at a selected restaurant. You can also have another stopover at the Mabira barbeque road-side market for tasting roasted Gonja and hot chicken at your expense.

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
